Marlborough September Community Giveaway

Working in and with the community is core to our vision for Fraser’s Budgens Stores. To celebrate the opening of our new store in Marlborough, Frasers Budgens is donating £6,000 over the next few months to local charities and organisations.

Nineteen community organisations competed for a share of the jackpot with the final nine chosen by the public on our store Facebook page. On September 27th they presented their proposals to the Mayor, Fraser’s Retail  and many local people at the Theatre on the Hill, St John’s School. It was a terrific evening with wonderful inspired presentations. The Directors would have liked them to all have won but in the end, each category was voted on in a very high-tec manner by pressing buttons on hand held devices and the winners were chosen.

Phoenix Brass Band, Savernake Forest Scout Group and Wiltshire Air Ambulance each walked with a cheque for £1000 presented by our Mayor Edwina Fogg. Phoenix Brass Band are buying a new instruement and Savernake Scout group, new tents for their various scouting expeditions.

In the end there were no losers and the other finalists, Carer Support Wiltshire, Marlborough Communities Market, St John’s School, We love Marlborough, Marlborough Brandt Group and Splitx will share a further £3000 in the coming months.

In October and November customers visiting the store can select between our two nominated charities Marlborough Brandt Group and Splitz for a share of £1000. Each customer will be given a token to place in our charity container by the exit door.

In the coming months (Jauary and February) the other charities will battle it out for their share of £1000.

Please contact us about other charities you would like to see us support in the coming Year.
